Emhof runner-up again.

Williamson, NY - Central New York Mini Sprint (CNYMS) tour regular Mike Emhof and the Branich Motorsports mini sprint team traveled to Whip City Speedway in Westfield, Massachusetts, to battle the track regulars on their home turf on May 11. Emhof powered his Pace Electronics/Heluva Good Foods Bishop mini sprinter to a runner up finish in the 1200 cc A-main. The race was won by 2001 Whip City track champion Rich Lemilin.

A full field of 24 mini sprints took the green flag on a dry, slick track. The feature was a heads up start, based on heat race qualifying. Emhof started 9th, and at the drop of the green flag, he was able to pick up a couple of spots. He rode 6th or 7th through most of first half of the race, eventually running 5th at the halfway point. "With the track slick it was pretty much wait for a mistake or loose a spot jumping out of line," commented Emhof. Emhof put on a late race charge over the last three laps, moving from 5th to take 2nd at the checkered flag. The Branich team will return to Whip City on Saturday, May 25th for the opening race of the CNYMS tour. From there, the mini sprint teams will travel to Fair Haven, Vermont, for a CNYMS race at the Devil's Bowl Speedway on Sunday, May 26th.
