Boston Reid Goes For 50K and Two Wins in One Weekend at R.E. Technologies Racing's Home Track
Memphis, TN -- May 4, 2004 -- Boston Reid and R.E. Technologies Racing team returns to their home track this weekend at Big M Motorfest presented by Brim's Snack Foods at Memphis Motorsports Park.
Reid hopes to claim the $50,000 bonus by winning the 410 Wingless Challenge Friday night and then jumping in the Curb-Agajanian Special on Saturday and winning the Memphis USAC 100 in R.E. Technologies Racing's hometown. The Indiana native will take to the ¼ mile gumbo dirt track Friday night, driving the 2b Lucas Oil sprint car for Scott Benic. Reid will pilot the Curb Records sponsored #35 Saturday on the .75 mile paved oval for R.E. Technologies Racing.
"I am excited that I have two good teams that I have a legitimate shot of winning both races," smiled Reid. "I think there just a few guys that have a shot at winning both and I believe we are one of them."
Reid's chances should be aided by the team's knowledge of the track. R.E. Technologies Racing has tested there a couple of times in the last few years. Memphis Motorsports Park is only 12 miles from the team's shop in Bartlett, TN.
"We are really excited about the amount of track time I have in Memphis," said Reid. "The last few times we tested there, we have run our quickest laps in the afternoon."
Team Manager, Chris Santucci says running at a track that the team has spent a lot of time on, will certainly give the team a leg up but won't necessarily make the team a shoe in.
"When we have tested at Memphis before, the track has been real green," stated Santucci. "When you get 50 cars running around there, I am sure the track is going to get a lot tighter. Knowing what to do for that would be our next challenge."
Santucci says he is pleased with Reid's response during testing. Reid has clocked the fastest times for the team in testing at the track.
"Boston is a very smooth driver." Said Santucci. "It is kind of hard to tell how bad the car really is because he covers it up with his smoothness."
HOME SWEET HOME
The R.E. Technologies Racing team would love to score a win in front of the hometown fans. Many friends and family members of the team are expected to be in attendance.
"It will be exciting because our families will be there, including my Uncle Ellis Palasini who will be with the Racing Memories show," said Santucci. "Our families have never seen our cars race because we normally do not race close to home."
