O'Reilly ASCS ventures into uncharted Missouri Territory

TULSA, Okla. (May 19, 2003) - The O'Reilly American Sprint Car Series National Tour presented by Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores and United Trailers is gearing up for a weekend of racing action in Missouri, as the series makes its first ever visits to Bolivar Speedway on Friday night (May 23), then Lebanon I-44 Speedway on Saturday night (May 24).

The events atop the pair of three-eighths mile high-banked clay ovals mark the ninth and tenth events on the 2003 ASCS National Trail, with the 11th Annual ASCS Speedweek getting underway the following week.

Travis Rilat of Forney, TX, and Darren Stewart of Bixby, OK, are locked in a tight points battle, with 2001 ASCS National champion Zach Chappell of Talala, OK, a close third in points. By virtue of winning the series' most recent event this past Saturday night in Amarillo, Stewart holds a ten point advantage over Rilat, who has made three trips to victory lane in O'Reilly ASCS National Tour action this season.

After winning the season opener, Chappell is close behind Rilat and Stewart in points, with last year's Brodix ASCS National Rookie of the Year Cody Branchcomb of Sapulpa, OK, fourth in points. After posting top five finishes in ASCS National points each of the past two years, Toby Brown of Carthage, MO, is currently ranked fifth. Gary Wright, who won Friday night's event in Lubbock, is ranked sixth entering the weekend.

Other top shoes expected for the weekend include three-time ASCS National champion Tim Crawley, ASCS National Tour contender Rick Behr and ASCS Sooner Region shoes Robert Sellers and Nick Smith. A number of top Missouri drivers will defend their home turf as well.

In conjunction with the events, Toby Brown will have his Wesmar-powered ABF Truck Rebuilders J&J Sprint Car on display and meet with fans at the Love's Travel Stop located off I-44 Exit 4 in Joplin, MO, on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Approximately 30 cars are expected for each night of racing action.

The 2003 O'Reilly Auto Parts American Sprint Car Series National Tour presented by Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores and United Trailers features approximately 50 nights of racing at 25 different tracks throughout Arkansas, Iowa, Louisiana, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas.
