BLOOMINGTON, IN (June 2, 2002) - No place is more appropriate for a memorial to Sheldon Kinser than the famous red clay oval that is Bloomington Speedway. Most fans remember Sheldon for the daring that he displayed on race tracks from coast to coast. He raced on tracks from quarter mile bull rings in sprints and midgets to mile dirt ovals in USAC champ dirt cars (now Silver Bullet) to the superspeedways where he competed with the best in champ cars.
Kevin Thomas has won the Sheldon Kinser Memorial four times; and you can bet that he'll be here on June 15 trying for number 5. He finished second in the last running of this event; but he plans to win it again this year. However, Kevin Briscoe, the 2000 Sheldon Kinser Memorial winner, will almost certainly be here too. And, don't think that it will come down to just these two either. Jason Knoke will certainly be at Bloomington Speedway with the Law Brothers sprinter; and there are a lot of the USAC regulars stand a good chance as well. Whoever winds up in victory lane, the race to the checkered flags is bound to be exciting. Don't miss the best in sprint car competition.
In addition to the non winged sprints, the O'Neal Wood Products open wheel modifieds and the Tire & Wheel Centers super stocks will also be in competition that night. There will be extra money up for grabs for these guys too in this special show.
Don't miss this great race. General Admission is only $15 While pit admission is $25. Kids 12 and under are admitted to the grandstand free with a paying adult. Parking and overnight camping are free. Coolers are allowed but glass containers are prohibited.
Pit gates open at 4:30 PM; and the grandstand opens at 5:30 PM. Hot Laps begin at 6:30 PM; and racing begins at 7:30 PM.
