SEASON OPENS WITH MARCH 19 PRACTICE; MICRO SPRINT OPEN MARCH 26
Minersville, PA -- February 25, 2005 -- Big Diamond Raceway has added a second United Racing Club (URC) sprint car in their 2005 schedule on Friday, April 29. It will be the first appearance of URC in Pennsylvania and their second event of the season. URC replaces the final of three planned 358 Sprint dates which were cancelled due to the decision by the KARS organization to not run events in 2005. The other two planned 358 dates have already been replaced with two ARDC Midget Twin-20 features events.
The United Racing Club will also be racing at Big Diamond Raceway on Friday, July 22.
The off-season has been a busy one for the United Racing Club. 2004 URC champion and Big Diamond feature winner, Curt Michael of Ocean View, MD, has left the Frank Davis #2 to move into the Pat and Kathy Palladino #99 for the 2005 season replacing Sean Michael. Kevin Welsh of Far Hills, NJ, who was the runner-up in the 2004 point race and the Valley Forge Inc. PA URC Series Champ, will park the Pete Welsh #18W and move with his team members to the Davis #2 for 2005.
The other 2004 URC Big Diamond was Tim Hogue of Medford, PA. Tim was named URC's "Most Improved Driver" for the season and is expected back in his Tastykake #39 with hopes of improving on his first two career feature wins and his sixth place point finish.
