The Baer Field Speedway in Fort Wayne IN hosted the Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper Super Sprint Series Saturday night and taking the win again at the ½ mile was Jason Blonde of Litchfield MI.

The day started with 22 AVSS teams checking into the hot pit area and after Hamilton trucking qualifications it was Blonde with fast time at 14.947. The second quick time was Kevin Newton at 14.973 and Danny Williams JR was third at 14.973.

The United Trailers heat race went to Jimmy McCune, the Dowker Engines heat went to Brian Lay and Tom Fedewa picked up the Wolverine Steel Welding heat. The B-main was dropped in favor of starting all 22 cars in the feature.

Tom Fedewa and Johnboy Hotchkiss paced the 22-car field. After the traditional AVSS three-wide salute to the great Fort Wayne crowd it was time to throw the green. It took three times to get the feature started, but on the third it was T.Fedewa taking off in what was thought to be an unbeatable lead.

A late yellow on lap 27 for a spin involving Jerry Kelly allowed the sixth starting Blonde who had moved his way into second to close on Fedewa and make a brilliant pass on lap 28 to get his way around the current AVSS point leader. The driver of the Southwest Truck Service 55 car was able to pull away from Fedewa and take his third win at Baer Field this season and fourth overall.

The top ten finishers were Blonde, T.Fedewa, Hotchkiss, Jeff Bloom, Lay, Hank Lower, Williams JR, McCune, Bill Tyler and Gary Fedewa. The Suspension Spring Specialist driver of the race was Williams and the Hamilton Trucking $100.00 winner for fast time was Blonde.

The 99 car of Kevin Newton was disqualified for not making post race weight of 1600 pounds.

The next AVSS event is Saturday August 2 at Owosso Speedway in Ovid MI. The fast 3/8 mile oval had Brian Lay win his first ever AVSS feature at the May 10 show and even more excitement is expected this Saturday night. The pit gates open at 12, hot laps start at 1, qualifying begins at 4:30 and racing gets under way at 7. There is no minimum pit age requirements for Owosso.
