ASCS National & Three Regional Tours commit to Brodix Tournament of Champions.
KNOXVILLE, IOWA (January 13, 2003) - Emmett Hahn's American Sprint Car Series (ASCS), based in Tulsa, Okla., has officially committed its national series and three regional tours to the August 9-10 Brodix Tournament of Champions 360-cubic-inch sprint car invitational at the Knoxville Raceway. According to Knoxville director of racing Ralph Capitani, "We're very pleased that Emmett Hahn, Tommie Estes and the entire ASCS crew are bringing the national series back to Knoxville in mid-August, and that their Gulf South, Sooner and Rocky Mountain regional tours will also be represented in the Tournament for the first time ever!"
The O'Reilly Auto Parts ASCS national tour, presented by Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores, features such nationally-noted 360-cubic-inch sprint car talents as Tim Crawley, Michael Dupuy, Zach Chappell, Garry Lee Maier, Gary Wright, Travis Rilat and Jason Johnson. Joining them this year at the half-mile Marion County Fairgrounds dirt track for the $4,000-to-win Brodix Tournament of Champions will be such regional stars as Danny Jennings of Oklahoma, Mike Dreiling of Colorado, and Kelly Angelette of Louisiana. The ASCS regional tours are coordinated by Keith Johnson (Gulf South), Jim Starr (Rocky Mountain) and Dennis Crow (Sooner), respectively.
To date, the following fourteen sanctioning affiliates have agreed to participate in the fifth-ever Brodix ToC: American Outlaw Action Series (AOAS), American Sprint Car Series (ASCS), ASCS Gulf South Regional Series (ASCS-Gulf South), ASCS Rocky Mountain Regional Series (ASCS-Rocky Mountain), ASCS Sooner Regional Series (ASCS-Sooner), Eagle Sprint Touring Series (ESTS), Knoxville Hard Chargers (KNOX), Montana Sprint Tour (MST), Northern Sprint Tour (NST), Sprint Invaders (SI), Sprints On Dirt (SOD), United Racing Club (URC), WISSOTA Promoters Association (WISSOTA), and Winged Outlaw Warriors (WOW).
Said tournament director Tom Schmeh, "We're planning on having fifteen sanctions participate in this year's Brodix Tournament of Champions, which will again be run under one common set of ASCS-compatible technical rules. We should know by the end of this week which affiliate will be that fifteenth and final one to have its members invited to compete in this prestigious pre-Knoxville-Nationals event."
