ASCS Completes Acquisition of Patriot Sprint Group

TULSA, Okla. (March 13, 2006) -- The American Sprint Car Series has officially established a stronghold in the northeastern portion of the United States by completing the acquisition of the Bobcat of Buffalo Patriot Sprint Group.

In just three short years, the Patriot Sprint Group has quickly emerged as a prominent sanctioning body in Sprint Car racing throughout New York, Pennsylvania and nearby portions of Canada.

"I've watched other organizations go as far as they can and take their drivers as far as they can take them, and in just three years we've already reached that level," Patriots Sprint Group President and Race Director Tom Taber explained. "We've done about all we're capable of doing at this point so we had to look at who could help our drivers progress the best and who could benefit the organization the best with national publicity and national notoriety."

"We want our organization to be more than 'a big fish in a small pond' so to speak, and the American Sprint Car Series is the one organization that can help the Patriot Sprint Group continue to make forward progress," Taber concluded.

Patriot Sprint Group Vice President David Slocum echoes Taber's enthusiasm regarding the sale. "We're very happy to be doing business with a nationally recognized outfit like the American Sprint Car Series that will contribute to our racing efforts and we're very happy with the sale. We had other offers and opportunities to sell the Patriot Sprint Group and we felt that joining with the American Sprint Car Series would be the best opportunity for our racers."

American Sprint Car Series President and founder Emmett Hahn is excited about the acquisition and looks forward to a smooth transition. "They've established the Patriot Sprint Group as a leading group in the northeast, so we plan to continue to run the same type of show with most of the same people in charge. We just plan to bring a little more to the table to help boost the Patriot Sprint Group to the next level in the coming years."

A number of current Patriot Sprint Group employees will remain with the series, including Jay Shaw, who will serve as Race Director/Competition Director in 2006. Others remaining on the ASCS Patriot Sprint Group staff are scorer Josh Ayslworth and announcer Rich Vleck among others. Also, Dan Deming joins the ASCS Patriot Sprint Group as Technical Director.

The ASCS Patriot Sprint Group is the American Sprint Car Series ninth Region (in addition to the O'Reilly ASCoT National series) and fourth new addition for 2006. Other new ASCS Regions for 2006 include the Northern Plains and Mid-South Regions along with the ASCS Sprints on Dirt, which was acquired at the close of the 2005 season.

Other regions include the Gulf South, Midwest, Rocky Mountain, Sooner and Southern.

In its 15th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing in the United States, the American Sprint Car Series will now present nearly 200 nights of racing in 2006 including the National Tour and its Regional Tours.
