ASCS PATRIOTS TO BE WELL REPRESENTED AT DEVIL'S BOWL THIS WEEKEND
TULSA, Okla. (October 9, 2007)- Tom Brady and Randy Moss aren't the only feared Patriots heading to Dallas this weekend for one of the biggest showdowns of the year, so too are Chuck Hebing, Jared Zimbardi and Justin Barger who are ready to make the long trip to Devil's Bowl.
The Devil's Bowl Winter Nationals takes place this weekend in Mesquite, TX, just outside of Dallas. This event will feature the inaugural ASCS/Wesmar Challenge, which will involve all three multi-time race winners with the ASCS Patriots in 2007.
Chuck Hebing heads across the country for the second time in his sprint car career this weekend, fresh off winning his 12th ASCS Sanctioned event of the season at the ASCS Patriot Season Finale in the Super DIRT Week Sprint Car Challenge at Rolling Wheels. He has been one of the hottest drivers in sprint car racing this year, but he still knows he has a monumental task ahead of him here.
"We beat (the ASCS National Tour Regulars) up here (at Black Rock in May), but this is a whole different deal," said the Ontario, NY Driver. "These guys have run (Devil's Bowl) so many times and we are going in there green so we are going to have our hands full."
Hebing was able to qualify for the special ASCS/ Wesmar Event, featuring the top-two in each ASCS Region and each full-time ASCS National Driver. He was one of only two competitors to qualify for the event through multiple regions, qualifying in the Mid-Atlantic Region as well.
Justin Barger, an ASCS Patriot Staple for 2007, was the other qualifier Mid-Atlantic Region Qualifier. The Montrose, NY driver won a pair of $2,000-to-win ASCS Patriot Events this year, including the season finale at Fulton a month ago. Barger has traveled around the country much more than Hebing and knows what to expect against the likes of Gary Wright, Jason Johnson, Wayne Johnson, Travis Rilat and Foster Landon.
Jared Zimbardi will be the other ASCS Patriot representative in the special ASCS/ Wesmar Events, which will reward the driver with the highest point total in the two events with a brand-new ASCS Legal Wesmar Engine.
Zimbardi and Hebing are traveling together from New York to Texas. The top-two in Patriot points combined to win 13 of the 19 ASCS Patriot Full Point Shows in 2007.
The 20-year-old from Little Valley, NY has never traveled outside of the Northeast to run his potent No. 35, but is excited to take on this new challenge.
Racing action will get underway Friday with a full card of racing, including one of the final O'Reilly ASCoT Races of the Season and the first leg of the ASCS/ Wesmar Challenge. Saturday will feature a similar program, with the multitude of prizes in the Challenge event being distributed at the end of the night.
