Rilat Carries Hot Hand Into O'Reilly ASCS Arkansas Double
ASCS - TULSA, Okla. (June 1, 2004) - Defending series champion Travis Rilat of Forney, TX, looks to carry his recent momentum into this weekend's O'Reilly American Sprint Car Series National Tour presented by Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores and Classic Trailers racing action.
In the series first full Arkansas weekend of 2004, the 3/8-mile North Central Arkansas Speedway in Yellville is the site for Friday night's card, with Little Rock's quarter-mile I-30 Speedway the venue on Saturday night.
Rilat swept both ends of the series most recent weekend at Tech Motor Speedway in Lubbock, TX, on May 21-22, running his series 2004 total to three wins in four starts. Rilat picked off a pair of wins in 410-ci O'Reilly Sprint Bandits action this past weekend in Missouri and Nebraska as well, extending his overall season win total to nine.
Rilat will face a host of challengers this weekend, including Hooks, TX, ace Gary Wright, who is currently ranked second in points, just ten markers behind Rilat. Wright, a three-time I-30 Speedway Short Track Nationals champion, added to his Little Rock success with a 410-ci O'Reilly Sprint Bandits triumph on May 15.
Other top contenders expected to vie for victory honors in this weekend's Arkansas action include Shane Stewart, Darren Stewart, Jan Howard, Toby Brown, Cody Branchcomb, Jimmy Taylor and former series champions Garry Lee Maier and Zach Chappell. Also expected are Brodix Rookie of the Year contenders A.G. Rains, Sam Hafertepe, Jr., Chuck Swenson and Natalie Sather.
Friday night's card at Yellville's North Central Arkansas Speedway is set to go green at 8:00 p.m. North Central Arkansas Speedway is located two miles east of State Road 14 in Yellville on US 62. For more information contact the track at 870-449-5277.
