'TK' Wins 'C' Feature in All-Stars' Volusia Opener

BARBERVILLE, FL (February 5) -- Battling engine problems against a field of cars that resembled the Knoxville Nationals wasn't the way Tom Rolfe Racing envisioned starting the 2008 season, but driver Tim Kaeding made the most of it Tuesday on opening night of the 37th Annual Alltel DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park.

Kaeding, who received the National Sprint Car Poll's 'Wild Card' Award for exciting performances in 2007, outraced veterans Shane Stewart and Paul McMahan to win the "C" Feature and drove the #10 J.F. McCray Plastering Maxim past 12 cars on his way to an eighth-place finish in the "B" Feature. Although he was only .553 seconds off Daryn Pittman's Kistler Engines Quick-Time pace, "TK" was the 37th-fastest qualifier in the 52-car field that featured the best drivers from the All-Stars, World of Outlaws and Pennsylvania Posse. Kaeding followed Wayne Johnson, Bob Felmlee, Kraig Kinser, Jason Meyers and Pittman across the finish line in the All-Pro Heads Heat Race.

"We stumbled in qualifying, but Tim ran like a banshee the rest of the night," Team Owner Tom Rolfe said. "We needed to come out of the chute with all our horsepower, but that didn't happen. It's no big deal though; it was only one of 125 races we're going to run this year. We're going to go back tomorrow and see if we can do better."
