Wilson Storms Into Thunderhill Speedway

MAYETTA, KS (8-13-07) Defending All Star Champion Greg Wilson stormed into Mayetta, Kansas and picked up another All Star victory, his 21st, on Monday night as he passed race leader Nick Smith in traffic coming out of turn 4 on the final lap. Smith was not able to negotiate lapped traffic and allowed Wilson to slip by on the outside. Smith jumped out to the early lead and battled with Gary Lee Maier side by side for the lead on lap three, but Maier spun off the top of the entrance to turn three and hit the retaining wall in push off lane to bring out red. Then there was another red flag on the restart for an incident in turn four with Jonathan Allard, Brian Ellenberger, Jason Martin, Jim Cameron, and Paul May. This allowed Maier to renter the race after he made repairs after his incident.

Brian Paulus charged to the front and took the lead on lap eight and pulled out front until he spun in turn two on lap thirteen relinquishing the lead back to Smith. Paulus would not restart the race after the spin.

Smith continued to run out front until Brandon Martin challenged the leader on lap twenty-four giving Smith a nose a time or two. On lap twenty-six Martin went high in turn four allowing Wilson and Wright to get by. Wilson then went high around Smith to take lead in traffic as the checkered flag flew.

The event was another "double points" race for the All Stars and inches Wilson closer to series point leader Danny Smith who finished 5th. Nick Smith would come home 2nd, followed by Gary Wright in 3rd and Brandon Martin who finished 4th.

________________________________________________________________________________________________________ * Wright Rumbles to Thunder Victory at RPM*

HAYS, KS (8-14-07) The temperatures may be scorching the Plains States this week, but it is Hooks, TX driver Gary Wright who is burning up the track. Wright finished second to Greg Wilson on night number one of the 2007 Thunder Through the Plains, but he felt his chances were better for a win at RPM Speedway. After going out and setting 6th quick time in qualifications, Wright would sit on the front row of the A-main with the All Star's 6 car inversion.

When the green flag dropped, Wright ran off and hid from the rest of the field. Brian Paulus, Jason Martin, and Greg Wilson battled for the runner up spot with Paulus eventually moving into the second position where he would finish the race. Jason Martin came home third as Wilson held onto fourth ahead of a charging Danny Smith who came from the tail after experiencing mechanical problems early in the night.
