All Stars Get Ready for first doubleheader of 2001 season May 4-5
HARTFORD, OH - The All Star Circuit of Champions sprint cars are busy preparing for the first doubleheader weekend of the season May 4 and 5. The twin state swing starts out in Ohio and finishes up in the Keystone state. Friday night May 4, the series will make the first of four visits to Ed Skillman's Sharon Speedway in Hartford, OH. The following night, action moves into Central Pennsylvania to the Lincoln Speedway in Abbotstown near Hanover.
The half-mile Sharon Speedway has hosted the All Stars 78 times over the past 21 seasons. Four different feature winners last year at Sharon included Kenny Jacobs in May, Ed Lynch, Jr. the Ohio Speedweek race winner in July, and Jeff Shepard and Phil Gressman were the Sharon Nationals preliminary and $10,000 winners respectively.
The Sat. May 5 Lincoln event marks the first of two visits to the half-mile Pennsylvania oval in 2001. Historically, Lincoln has hosted 13 All Star events with seven different winners, including Jacobs and Fred Rahmer last season. All time Lincoln series winners include Rahmer (5), Lance Dewease (2), Steve Smith (2), Jimmy Horton (1), Bobby Allen (1), Johnny Mackison (1) and Jacobs (1).
