ALLSTAR: Putnam County Speedway added to 2002 schedule

PONCE INLET, FL - The All Star Circuit of Champions sprint cars will return to Putnam County Speedway in Palatka, FL on Wednesday night Feb. 6, 2002 to open their 2002 season. The All Stars last visited the 3/8 mile oval over a decade ago.

PONCE INLET, FL - The All Star Circuit of Champions sprint cars will return to Putnam County Speedway in Palatka, FL on Wednesday night Feb. 6, 2002 to open their 2002 season.

The All Stars last visited the 3/8 mile oval over a decade ago. Putnam County's 1991 shows saw Kevin Huntley and Bobby Davis Jr. in victory lane. Promoter Bob Potter has made numerous improvements to the facility, and is excited to host the All Stars for their season opener. Pit gates open at 3:00 pm with racing at 7:30 p.m.

Action continues Thursday Feb. 7 through Sunday Feb. 10 at Volusia in Barberville (20 min. west of Daytona Beach). Four complete shows are scheduled, with $4,000 to win the first three nights and $7,000 to win on Sunday. A total $98,000 purse has been posted.

Then, Wed. through Saturday Feb. 13-14-15-16 (with Practice Day Tues. Feb. 12), the series moves to East Bay Raceway for the 26th Annual East bay Winternationals. The track is located in Gibsonton, FL (5 miles south of Tampa). Four complete shows are scheduled, with $4,000 to win the first three nights and $26,000 to win on Saturday. Several special Dashes and Bonuses bring the East Bay Purse to $148,760.

No entry fee is required at Putnam Co. For Volusia, free pre-entries by 1/15/02, $50 thereafter. At East Bay, free pre-entries by 1/15/02, $25 by 1/22 and $50 thereafter.
