FREMONT, OH (6-29-06) - The history and tradition of Ohio Sprint Speedweek is synonymous with Fremont Speedway's long list of All Star feature winners over the past few decades at "The track that action built". Add to that list a kid from Olive Branch, MS who was told that Attica and Fremont would be the two toughest tracks to tame during the week of events. He wasn't intimidated by the two tracks he'd never seen before and went out and won at both as he also picked up the Speedweek opener win last Sunday.

"I'm going to have to come back and race in Ohio more often," said Stenhouse in victory lane. "I have to thank Pete Grove and Premiere Pallets for helping to get us to Speedweek and Jack Elam and J&J Chassis for giving us such a great race car. We hired Andy Potter (from Fremont) to wrench on this car this week and he just had this thing so good. I could drive it anywhere to get around lapped traffic."

58 cars were on hand for Night #5 of Ohio Sprint Speedweek which was a record nationally for 410 racing in the United States in 2006. This made it very difficult to make the 24 car field for the main event.

All Star Rookie of the Year contender Brandon Martin jumped into the lead of the 40-lap feature from his pole starting spot, with outside front row starter Dale Blaney, Stenhouse, Lee Jacobs, Phil Gressman and Paul McMahan in tow. Martin hugged the bottom and continued to lead, but slipped up entering turn three on lap 10 to allow Blaney to get under him.

Blaney would then lead with Stenhouse getting around Martin on lap 11 for second. As the leaders hit lapped traffic, Stenhouse closed on Blaney and raced beside him on several occasions. At the half-way mark, the running order was Blaney, Stenhouse, Martin, Jacobs, McMahan, Phil Gressman and David Harrison.

It started getting wild by lap 27 as the leaders hit heavy lapped traffic racing side by side in front of them. Stenhouse used a lapped car pick move to drive to the inside of Blaney exiting turn four to take the lead as they completed lap 28.

Stenhouse then diced his way through lapped traffic until the checkered flag fell to collect his second Ohio Sprint Speedweek win in just three events.

"I don't know what happened, but with about 15-20 laps to go, the car just got tight," said Blaney next to his George Fisher owned #2. "I'm disappointed, but we'll take second...Ricky's a great driver and we have to work hard to beat him these last two races."

"These guys (Burmeister Racing) worked hard to give me a good race car. We were a little off at the beginning of the race, but it came around at the end," said Jacobs. "Hats off to Ricky...he's going to be a good one."

Paul McMahan set quick time in Huggins Cams Qualifying at 12.493. Drawing an early number for qualifying was good with so many cars in the pits. The track began to slow down about midway through the qualifying session.

The C-main was won by All Star veteran Danny Smith who ran away with the victory from his front row starting position.

The B-main was a wild one with Rob Chaney and David Harrison racing side by side for several laps with Harrison eventually coming out on top followed by Chaney, Tim Hunter, and Mark Keegan who snuck into a transfer spot on the final lap.

Dale Blaney won the All Star Haulmark Dash and Byron Reed won a special charity dash for the Billy Stierwalt Memorial Fund. Reed and the other drivers donated their dash winnings to the fund and helped to raise $3000.

Next up for the All Stars is Friday June 30th at Limaland and Saturday July 1st at Eldora where the 2006 Ohio Speedweek Champion will be crowned.
