LAWRENCEBURG, IN -- Phil Gressman picked up his first win of the year Saturday night at Lawrenceburg Speedway in the Haulmark All Star sprint car X-1R 50 lap 22nd annual Hoosier Fall Classic. The win for the Premier Pallets team owned by Pete Grove was worth $12,000, the biggest payday for the series this season. Gressman became the 19th different feature winner in 40 All Star events this season.

"The last five or six races things have been coming together," Gressman said of his winning race team. "I have to thank Pete Grove and Craig Stevens for believing in me, it's been a long summer for us and I can't thank everyone enough. We're just glad to win a race." Gressman also related he lost a wing adjuster during the event, so he had to race with the setup he had.

With Dale Blaney, Bobby Clark, Jimmy Stinson, Tim Hunter, Jim Nier and Dean Jacobs pacing the field for the start, Blaney took the initial lead over Clark and Hunter. Jacobs moved into third just before a collision between Jeremy Campbell and Dickie Gaines resulted in Campbell ending up on his side on lap four. Following the red, Blaney maintained the lead ahead of Clark and Jacobs. Blaney jumped the cushion on lap 11, allowing Clark to take over the top spot as Blaney came back on the track in second, just ahead of Jacobs. But Blaney's race ended on lap 14 when Jon Agan and Tom Busch got together right in front of him, with Blaney unable to avoid the duo and ending up flipping. Kinser rode over Blaney's right rear in the melee and also went pitside, dropping him from fourth place with a flat tire. Kinser was able to restart at the tail.

Clark was able to hold off a hard charging Jacobs when the green came back out, and Gressman, who started 11th began pressuring Jacobs for the runnerup spot, taking it on lap 19. Jacobs and Gressman continued their battle for second as Clark stretched his lead a bit.

Lap 25 saw the lead trio three wide off turn four, with Gressman taking the lead, which he would hold the rest of the race. Jacobs kept up the pressure on the leader, and made a daring slide job move for the lead on lap 46, but his momentum carried him into the side of Gressman, which resulted in Jacobs spinning the Webb Racing No. 51.

It was now a four lap dash to the end, with Gressman now ahead of Reed, who started 12th, Clark and Kemenah. Gressman drove away for the win, with Reed ending up second.

"The last couple of years we started to get this place figured out," Reed said after finishing second. "I got off the berm and fell back to 14th and at most tracks you'd consider yourself done but at this place you know if you have a good car you can get back up in there."

Behind Reed were Clark and Paul May who passed Kemenah for fourth on the last lap. Kemenah, Huntley, Butch Schroeder, Jacobs, Kinser and Danny Smith, who restarted last after a mid race tire change completed the top ten.

The Crown Battery heat fell to Gressman, the B&B Products heat went to Chad Kemenah, the Engler Machine and Tool heat was won by Paul May and the TP Wings heat fell to Dickie Gaines. Jared Fox won the Outerwears Pre-filters C Main and Jeremy Campbell won the University of Northwestern Ohio B Main. Dale Blaney captured the Haulmark Dash and Jeremy Campbell was the Huggins Cams Fast Time qualifier for the first time this season.
