PONCE INLET, FL - Following a successful Florida Winternationals series of eight races that opened the 2001 campaign, the All Star Circuit of Champions sprint cars swing back into action with their Northern opener at Eldora Speedway on Saturday night April 7. This will be the first of three series events scheduled for April.
Leading the way into the famous Rossburg half-mile speedplant is defending All Star champion and all-time Eldora All Star win leader Kenny Jacobs. A pair of new driver-owner combinations are also expected to be on hand at Eldora. Dean Jacobs has accepted a ride in Rick Daugherty's Peterbilt No. 7, while Eunice. LA. racer Jason Johnson will be behind the wheel of Jack Elden's No. 22.
Other Ohio All Star drivers expected include Rodney Duncan in the Harrison Trucking No. 22, Chad Kemenah in Jimmy Harble's No. 15, Greg Wilson in the Bob Hampshire No. 63 and Barry Ruble in his new JB Chassis No. 63r.
Expected Pennsylvania entrants include Todd Gracey in the Ken Cooper No. 25, Brian Ellenberger in his own No. 20, and Rookie of the year contenders Mike Wagner and Shawn Stidfole.
Another Rookie of the year candidate, Travis Rilat tows in from Texas in Chris Archer's No. 1A, with Missouri represented by Jerrod Hull's Guy Webb No. 51. Indiana drivers Danny Smith in the John Baker No. 4 and Kevin Huntley in the Denny Ashworth No. 92 should also be on hand looking for the $5,000 winner's paycheck. Add in all the other sprint car regulars from Ohio, Michigan and Indiana and it should be an action packed event.
Following the Eldora show, the All Stars move to Attica Raceway Park in Attica on Sat. April 21 for the annual Attica Coors Nationals with action moving to the Fremont, Ohio Speedway on Sat. April 28 for the $6,000 to win Keller Chevrolet Shoot-out.
