Daggett Takes on All Stars at Fremont for SOD Tuneup
PORTLAND, Mich. -- Dustin Daggett will take his first trip out of the state of Michigan for the 2004 season on Saturday. Daggett will compete at Fremont Speedway in Fremont, Ohio with the All Star Circuit of Champions during Fort Ball Pizza night.
Daggett will run his 360 Dowker powered Maxim chassis he normally uses in Sprints on Dirt competition instead of his car with the 410 cubic inch engine. The event will serve as a test for the SOD/305 Challenge on May 22nd between the Sprints on Dirt cars and the local Fremont 305 cubic inch sprint cars.
Two years ago, Daggett had a breakout performance during a two day All Star Circuit of Champions event at Fremont, making both features and winning the B-Main during the Saturday event. Last year, Daggett made two appearances at Fremont and had bad luck that led to missing both feature events. Daggett is looking for a better run this weekend along with trying some other things with the car that may help him gain an advantage for next week's Sprints on Dirt event.
"We spoke with Scott Benic this week and we want to try a few different things with our setup," said Daggett from his shop. "We're hoping the car will still be somewhat competitive with the All Stars, our only problem should be in qualifying against the 410's. The biggest thing will be learning something for the upcoming SOD event at Fremont."
After the All Star show at Fremont Daggett has two SOD races near the their home base at Ionia Raceway Park and Crystal Motor Speedway on Friday May 14th and Saturday May 15th. Daggett won the SOD season opener at Crystal earlier this season and always runs well at the Ionia half mile.
