ATTICA, OH - The All Star Circuit of Champions sprint cars are preparing to invade a pair of Buckeye State Speedways for a doubleheader weekend of racing Friday May 18 and Saturday May 19.
Friday, May 18 the series returns to Attica Raceway Park in Attica for their second appearance of the 2001 season. Byron Reed won the action packed Coors Nationals at Attica earlier this season.
The Saturday May 19 event at K-C Raceway located in Alma near Chillicothe marks the first appearance of the season on the 3/8 mile high banks. Last year there were three different winners at K-C in a trio of events. Kasey Kahne was the April 29 winner, Rodney Duncan captured the May 13 event and Kevin Huntley won the Ohio Speedweek main on June 28.
All the top All Stars are expected to be on hand including the top ten in series points consisting of Chad Kemenah, Rodney Duncan, Kenny Jacobs, Danny Smith, Greg Wilson, Travis Rilat, Jerrod Hull, Jason Johnson, Dean Jacobs and Brian Ellenberger.
This season, the series features eight Rookie-of-the-Year contenders, most of whom are expected at the majority of the races this season, The rookie crop includes Travis Rilat, Mike Wagner, Jason Johnson, Shawn Stidfole, Bruce Robenalt, Spud Gustin, Lee Jacobs, John Ivy and Brad Ellenberger
The ultra competitive All Star series has seen 10 winners this season in 13 events. Winners are Joey Saldana (3), points leader Chad Kemenah (2), Greg Hodnett, Gary Wright, Dale Blaney, Craig Dollansky, Danny Lasoski, Kenny Jacobs, Byron Reed and Steve Siegel.
