BARBERVILLE, FL (3/21/99) - Florida’s Volusia Speedway Park announced a $10,000 increase in the purse for their All Star Sprint Car races to be held Feb. 9-13, 2000 at the half-mile dirt track located 20 minutes from Daytona Beach. Track owner Dick Murphy was very pleased with this years’ All Star Florida series, which kicked off successfully at VSP with four nights of racing and four different winners. Considering an average car count of 45 sprint cars per night and large crowds, Murphy said next year’s event will pay $4,000 to win on the three preliminary nights and $7,000 to win for the Sunday night final. An additional change will be the move of the pit area to the outside of the race track, eliminating the rigs parked in the infield. "This move will make for better visibility for the fans plus cut down on congestion in the pits," according to Murphy. The All Star Circuit of Champions will once again be the sanctioning body for Florida Sprint Speedweeks in 2000. For more info on the All Stars, call (904) 756-9225 or visit www.allstarsprint.com.
