Knoxville, IA- August 15, 2003- Tom Schmeh, executive director of the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and Museum announced today at Knoxville Raceway, that the Wirtgen Group will join the Kele World Challenge as the presenting sponsor in 2004.
"I am excited to have Stu Murray and Wirtgen as presenting sponsors of the Kele World Challenge," said Schmeh. "They are a world-class company led by world-class people."
Wirtgen has been involved with the Knoxville Nationals for several years as a team sponsor, trade show exhibitor and this year as an associate sponsor.
Wirtgen Group is the single-source marketer of the world's most technologically advanced lines of asphalt reclaiming and recycling equipment from Wirtgen, asphalt and soil compactors from Hamm Compact Division and asphalt pavers from Vogele America Inc. Wirtgen continues to bring forward highly innovative, cost-effective highway construction and reconstruction products. Wirtgen has offices around the globe including several in Australia.
C.E.O. of Wirtgen America, Stu Murray says, sponsoring the Kele World Challenge is the natural thing to do.
"With winged sprint cars competing internationally, it makes sence for Wirtgen to become more involved in Australia," stated Murray. "I am confident that our involvement in the Kele World Challenge will benefit the drivers, our company and the fans around the world." Kele Chairman, Roger Johnson, says having Wirtgen onboard strengthens the race.
"The idea with Wirtgen being the international company fits well, as the Kele World Challenge is an international race," said Johnson. "We are excited to welcome Wirtgen as our future partner, to bring the Kele World Challenge to the world."
The new name of the 2004 event will be the Kele World Challenge presented by Wirtgen.
Kele (pronounced like Kelly Green) has been the primary sponsor of the Kele World Challenge for eight years. The Kele Companies supply interface products to the commercial HVAC and building automation industries.
