ALL-STAR SUPPORTING CAST FOR ZOLDER SUPERLEAGUE RACE MEETING

20/04/2009 - Both motor sport and football fans are guaranteed a superb action-packed weekend of top class entertainment when the hugely popular Superleague Formula headlines at the Zolder circuit in Belgium (18/19 July).

The weekend's on-track activities include not only two spectacular showdowns for the identical V12-powered F1-style 750bhp Superleague Formula race cars that represent 20 of the world's premier football clubs but also a dazzling support race programme featuring rounds of the high-profile Dutch Supercar Challenge plus the evocative EuroBOSS Series, which showcases a mouth-watering array of Formula One cars constructed before 2004. The busy two-day race schedule also includes the Dunlop Sport Maxx Endurance Cup, Formula Ford Benelux Championship and the Historic Youngtimer Touringcar Championship.

Zolder is no stranger to the unique excitement and drama of Superleague Formula having witnessed two thrilling races in 2008 when race victories went to Liverpool FC and eventual champions Beijing Guoan FC. There was plenty for local Belgian and Dutch fans to cheer, too, with RSC Anderlecht and PSV Eindhoven racing teams posting impressive top three podium finishes.

"We had two fabulous Superleague Formula races at Zolder last September and that's why we are delighted to be returning to Belgium this summer," says Superleague Formula President Alex Andreu. "Zolder is perfectly placed to attract the supporters of many of the celebrated European football clubs competing for the 2009 Superleague Formula title. What's more the organisers have put together a rich and varied programme of thrilling supporting races, so the crowd is certain to have memorable weekend."
