Giacomo Piccini's Debut in The Spanish Formula 3 is Coming Up
Giacomo Piccini has just completed the first free practice session in sight of the season opening race in Albacete for the Spanish Formula 3.
The Tuscan driver will be competing with the new Minardi F3 team. This is a project that the Formula One team has designed to launch new young talents in the Motorsport world.
The Minardi F3 Team managed by Adrian Campos Motorsport will be participating in the entire Spanish Formula 3 championship.
The rain disturbed the first round of the free practice session but as the track started drying up, Giacomo was able to run the laps with more continuity
"I'm very enthusiastic about participating in this championship. Although I can't deny that compared to my adversaries, I'm starting with the handicap that I don't know all the tracks. Albacete was an unknown track for me and I got my first taste of it this morning during the first round of the free practice session.
The track is very technical with fast curves and is very demanding. Moreover, the asphalt is at times very bumpy.
The first round was wet for all the heavy rain that fell during the night. I put on wet tyres and proceeded at a reduced speed so I could get to know the track. Later the circuit started to dry up and during the third round, we decided to put on new tyres. Unfortunately I was able to take advantage of them. While I was trying to avoid a slow driver who was suddenly in front of me, I ended up spinning and going off track. Regardless of this inconvenience, I have faith. There will be other free practice sessions tomorrow, on Saturday the qualifications are scheduled and finally on Sunday, my first race in the Spanish Formula 3."
