Six-Race Series, SCORE announces Optima Batteries as title sponsor for 2002 Optima SCORE Desert Series
LOS ANGELES--Optima Batteries, a worldwide leader in the automotive industry, has become the title sponsor of the 2002 Optima SCORE Desert Series, it was announced today by SCORE International, the Los Angeles-based sanctioning body and producer of America's Foremost Desert Racing Series.
Also signed as the official battery of SCORE International for the balance of 2002, Optima Batteries is a division of Johnson Controls, Inc., of Milwaukee, Wisc. JCI is the world's largest producer of automotive batteries. The six-race 2002 Optima SCORE Desert Series resumes with Round 3--the 34th Tecate SCORE Baja 500 in Ensenada, Mexico, next weekend (May 31-June 1-2). Following Round 3 will be the inaugural SCORE Henderson's Terrible's 250 in Henderson, Nev. (July 10-14), the 7th SCORE Las Vegas Primm 300 (Sept. 13-14), and the 2002 series will conclude with the 35th Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 from Ensenada to La Paz, Mexico (Nov. 20-23).
