September 17, 2004 - Heber, CA - The SMD Motorsports team has again proved that through team work, preparation and dedication comes victory. At the SCORE Primm 300 SMD Motorsports brought home first place in both the Protruck Class and the SCORE Lite class. With this weekend's SCORE Primm 300 victory, the SMD Motorsports team leads the pack in the points battle in all 3 series, Pro Truck, Best in the Desert, and SCORE for the prestigious Protruck championship. "Our team has been incredibly strong this year, and it is not by accident," states driver of record Matt Scaroni." A tremendous effort from the entire team has been put forth this year in search of not only the Protruck championship, but the Best in the Desert and SCORE titles as well. Make no mistake about it, we want all three!" says Matt Scaroni.
With this weekend's SCORE Primm 300 race victory, the team is faced with a new dilemma of wanting to win the points championship in all three the Protruck championship, the Best in the Desert Protruck points' race and the SCORE Protruck championship. Team owner Steve Scaroni had this to say: "For me, I see this as an exciting victory. The best way to achieve what we were setting out to do was to go out, win the race and collect the maximum points possible. We were going out there to win, but we had to keep the championship implications in mind as well. With efficient work in the pits, sticking to the driving plan and a steady pace on the course we were able to win the race and secure our points lead."
The SMD Motorsports Team is very proud of the victory brought in by the driving team of David Scaroni and Vic Bruckman in the SCORE Lite class. The race was not without challenges. Bruckman was first off the line and encountered two flats during the first half of the race one on the course and one in the pits. Ever Vigilant SMD Team at Pit B noticed a CV Boot clamp was hanging / dangling as Vic Sped by, reported the CV Boot Clamp to Pit C who executed a speedy CV Boot repair. However, with Vic's hard fast pace he managed to stay within 7 minutes of the leaders. Halfway through the race David took over driving knowing the daunting task of driving fast and hard on a notoriously ROUGH PRIMM course in order to put the Score Lite into the winners' circle. According to David, the team had one goal. "We came in with a mindset of nothing to lose and we were able to win because of that"
