Oak Hills, CA- Herman Motorsports is set to make their SCORE International Trophy Truck debut at this weekends 8th annual Laughlin Desert Challenge in Laughlin, NV. The team, fresh off a 2001 Best in the Desert Trophy Truck Championship is now ready to take on the grueling pursuit of the 2002 SCORE title.
Although new to the elite SCORE Trophy Truck ranks, Herman Motorsports and driver Damen Jefferies are no strangers to success in desert racing. In fact, the team not only has the 1997 SCORE Overall Points Championship behind it but, championships in Class 9 (1994), 1600 (1997) and 10 (1998). Best in the Desert championships include Class 1 unlimited (2000) and most recently Trophy Truck (2001).
"Our team, new to the Trophy Truck ranks in 2001 achieved its out of the box goal of competitive and reliable racing, competing exclusively in the Best in the Desert series" explained team owner Rob Herman. "In the four-event season we posted a 3rd followed by three consecutive wins including a victory at the prestigious Vegas to Reno race."
The Laughlin Desert Challenge offers a unique format for desert racers. Rather than the typical long distance endurance race, the challenge is comprised of four 13.8-mile laps on both Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, the #10 Herman Motorsports Ford F-150 Trophy Truck will start sixth off the line and Sundays starting position will be determined by Saturdays on track performance. "We should be able to turn 13-14 minute laps, depending on dust and current track conditions." Said an excited Damen Jefferies.
Herman Motorsports will be racing with a new associate sponsorship from the Hesperia, CA company Competitive Door and Finish. The largest distributor of commercial and residential doors and windows in California's flourishing high desert market and one of the largest Milguard brand distributors in Southern California. "We are very excited to be supporting Herman Motorsports for the 2002 season" said Competitive Door and Finish President Rick Johnson. "As race fans and competitors, we have watched this team achieve every milestone the sport has to offer while maintaining a solid marketing program to promote their sponsors. It's rare to find teams of this caliber in desert racing and we are looking forward to an exciting and mutually beneficial year with this team."
Competitive Door and Window will be using the Herman Motorsports F-150 Trophy Truck to promote two unique online services scheduled to launch in late February. These service brands are: CompDoor.com and CompWindow.com, both of which will be major online hubs for the quotation and wholesale distribution of their more than 2000 products.
