SCORE International's Baja 1000: the ultimate challenge for desert racers

Dear Friends, Partners and Sponsors,

This Baja 1000 promises to be a breathtaking final for this year's SCORE International. At the draw Martin Christensen and I drew starting number 101, making us the first Class 1 Buggy on the course. We rank second in the championship, and points' leader Hurley Letner is the next car on track right behind us, shadowed by third-placed Ronnie Wilson who takes up the race as the third car. Our teammates Armin Kremer and Andy Aigner start with number 104, they are right behind the three front-runners and within striking distance. So all looks promising at AGM for a strong showing!

As the first Class 1 Buggy away from the start we will very likely have much less dust between our teeth than at the Primm 300 in September, where we won our class. But the way to an overall win - secretly everybody at AGM dreams of it - is very, very long and hard. It's not only 700 miles of tough desert tracks on the Baja California. The real feat is to beat the 800+ hp monster 4WD Trophy Trucks and their brilliant drivers that start ahead of us.

The race course leads us to about half way down the peninsula. I'm familiar with about 40 percent of it, the rest is new, which I find great. Because even after a few decades of world travelling at race speed I'm very curious to see something new. We race along the Pacific coast and cross the peninsula for some driving on the East coast, too, where, if I remember correctly, there was some overwhelmingly beautiful stretches of land. Still, nobody knows if it's going to be nice. Sun and warmth are normal at this time of the year, but we had some torrential rainstorms with flooding, too.

Highspeed festival for all: the fans, the teams and the drivers

Our team is experienced and prepared for everything. About 50 team members will support our two cars. And I know I can rely on each and every one of them. That's such a great feeling. And I know, I can also rely on our technology partners like BF Goodrich, Bilstein, Eibach, Liqui Moly and Remus. It is a challenge and at the same time a very relaxing feeling to have such great partners on board.

And I'm very pleased that Germany's VOX TV will join us on our journey at the limit. That will make it possible for our partners and fans in Europe to see how we are doing down there in the desert.

I'll be back here in about two weeks with more news.

Best wishes,
    Armin
