VW Jetta: Chris Wehrheim VIR preview

Current #2 ranked karter to compete in VW Jetta TDI Cup

Norcross, GA (April 21, 2010) - Chris Wehrheim has announced that he will compete in the 2010 VW Jetta TDI Cup. The 24 year old driver from Norcross, GA will start the season off at Virginia International Raceway this weekend, a track he is no stranger to.

Chris is also not a stranger to success at VIR. In 2005 he debuted in his first car race in the Skip Barber Regional series there and took victory. Chris returned to VIR a year later to compete in the Skip Barber National Championship winning pole position in both races and won race one with a margin of 15 seconds. The remainder of the TDI Cup season will be all new tracks for him, but Chris is hoping to utilize his experience to learn them quickly.

Chris will also be competing in select karting events in North America and Europe this year in between coaching and tuning for Raquel Martinez. As he has for the past four years, Chris will be racing for Top Kart and Grand Products again. While in North America he will focus on TaG and Rotax, and while in Europe Chris is looking to compete in the KZ category.

"I am looking forward to competing in my first full season of car racing this year," commented Wehrheim. "I have had a lot of success in the past with multiple wins and pole positions in Skip Barber, but have yet to run a full season in any car series. The competition will be very tough this year in the TDI Cup, but I am confident that I can produce the results to put together a championship effort."
