Monterey, Calif. -- Tommy Archer, driving the number 36 Control Concepts Dodge Viper, put his car on pole position in qualifying for tomorrow's round ten of the SCCA Pro Racing Trans-Am Series for the BF Goodrich Cup at Laguna Seca.

On his fifth lap of qualifying the Duluth, Minnesota resident put in a time of 1:27.471 and 92 mph improving on his morning practice effort by a half second.

"We had a good morning session, we made some adjustments and were able to go a little faster in qualifying to put it on pole. Every race the car gets more comfortable. I think signing our sponsor, Control Concepts, has been good for a few tenths. We are on soft tires while most everyone else is on hard tires, so that will play a factor in the race," said Tommy Archer, driver of the number 36 Control Concepts Dodge Viper.

"It is a great effort to put the newly badged Control Concepts Dodge Viper on pole. Tommy did an excellent job, he and Will have been talking the same language all year and it pays off," said Joe Tranchida, owner of Cinjo Racing.

The Laguna race marks the third and final race of the season where the Trans-Am competitors will be required to perform a pit stop.

The Trans-Am race from Laguna Seca will be televised live on Speedvision starting at 4:50 p.m. EDT on Saturday, September 8.
