Kumho Tires to sponsor 5th Annual Kumho Tires 12 Hours at the Point.

27 February 2003: The Washington DC Region of the Sports Car Club of America is happy to announce that Kumho Tires, a leading manufacturer of tires for street and racing, will sponsor the 5th 12 Hours at the Point held at Summit Point Raceway in Summit Point, WV. The May 30-31, 2003 event, an endurance race for sedans and sports cars, is the longest perennially held amateur endurance event in the US. This will be the second consecutive year that Kumho Tires has sponsored the grueling 12-hour race.

"Kumho Tires has long supported amateur motorsports and we are very happy to have Kumho Tires return as our sponsor," said William Radford, DC Region Board of Directors member. Radford added, "Kumho's support is an important part of making the Kumho Tires 12 Hours at the Point such a success."

For the 5th Annual Kumho Tires 12 Hours at the Point, Kumho Tires has decided to continue the special contingency program established for the 2002 event. "The response among the competitors to last year's program was excellent, so we have continued it," Rudy Consolacion, Motorsports Manager of Kumho Tires. According to Consolacion, Kumho Tires is also sponsoring the mid-April inaugural Kumho Tires 12 Hours of Homestead, held at Homestead-Miami Speedway. "Kumho Tires is proud to be associated with the two premier SCCA Club racing endurance races," said Consolacion.

Each team winning its class and meeting eligibility requirements will win a $600 contingency prize from Kumho. Second place teams will win $300 and third in class, if eligible, will win $100. Details of the contingency program can be found on the Kumho Tires 12 Hours at the Point website (www.12hoursatthepoint.org).
