Viktor Sinzig takes the win at Infineon Raceway double regional
Viktor Sinzig took home top honors in Formula Ford race one of the double header weekend at Infineon Raceway, scoring the victory in Round 7. Championship leader Viktor Sinzig will start from the pole position in round 7 of the Formula Ford Championship at Infineon Raceway. His teammate will start along side after turning the second fastest time in qualifying.
With the waving of the green flag Saturday morning in Northern California, Sinzig took the lead wile the 49 drivers behind him shuffled for position. The teenager quickly established the lead in the early stages of the race with very exiting wheel to wheel battles at the end of the race with his teammate FF#16. The checker flew for Viktor Sinzig (FF-1) after seventeen laps and after posting a fastest lap of 1:39:520 minutes and speed of 91.158 mph.
When the green flag waved Sunday afternoon, it was Viktor Sinzig who enjoyed the best start among the front- runner, finding a way past the pole sitter before the first turn. Quickly getting up to speed, the championship leader moved into the lead ahead of his teammate Peter Nosler, # 16. While Sinzig established a multi car gap, it vanished during the middle stages of the race when he spun in turn 3a, and found himself 10 sec. behind the leader.
Viktor pulled back onto the racing line in a safe manner to continue the race. Closing the gap in each Set of turns lap after lap and passing car after car. Sinzig was not able to make that last pass and he finished the race in 2nd position just where he started.
"I didn't have enough time to do it, but that's how racing goes sometimes. With results we had this year I am quite happy to take 2nd place today. I wan to thank Neil Porter and the team for doing a great job this weekend. I also want to thank my parents and Palo Alto German Cars for their continued support."
The Formula Ford season does not end until Oct. 24, but Cupertino resident Viktor Sinzig holds a firm points lead in the standings and has produced 5 wins with 6 poles, 1 second and 2 third place finishes for the Porter racing team.
