From Steve Johnson - SCCA president:

Just one short week ago, excitement, enthusiasm and spirit was in the air. The SCCA was about to showcase its two flagship events, the SCCA Valvoline® Runoffs and the SCCA Tire Rack Solo Nationals.

As the terror that unfolded could have easily cancelled our events and sent us into hiding - it did not! We are now moving forward with a different excitement, enthusiasm and spirit than ever before.

Our concern is not with who won or will win, record times or sponsor support. Our concern is with our SCCA family and the entire nation in starting our healing process.

The main reason we chose to continue was based on what our SCCA family wanted. We halted the event for 36 hours and huddled in mass around the television sets in disbelief and shock. The message from President Bush was to continue your routines as best as possible. When we were told it would be safe for us to continue, we did just that and started the healing.

To heal, it is important to be surrounded by family and friends... to talk about your feelings and to continue with life. Our events enabled us to do that!

We will be honoring the victims, the nation and Linda Gronlund and Joseph DeLuca by waving the checkered flag and American flag at the finish of each race, placing American Flag decals on all cars and playing "God Bless America" each day of the Runoffs.

Our lives have changed, our hearts are heavy and I have never been as proud to be an American and a member of the greatest organization in the world, the Sports Car Club of America.

Thank you for your strength and God Bless each and every one of you.
