May 10, 2001: The second and third events of DC Region's Mid-Atlantic Road Racing Series (MARRS) Championship look to be just as crowded as the first event of the season. Over 334 cars are already entered for the May 12/13 SARRC/MARRS Challenge at Virginia International Raceway hosted by the North Carolina Region of the Sports Car Club of America. Eighty cars are currently entered in the Group 2 race and the number is likely to increase with two days left before the event.

The double regional event, with races on Saturday and Sunday, is on both the MARRS and South Atlantic Road Racing Championship (SARRC) calenders and the the visit of both racing series to the 3.27 mile course just outside of Danville is one factor for the high entry count. According to one participant, however, the real reason is, "North Carolina Region puts on a great event at a great track and you rarely get this level of competition in one place." This is the second year for the Mother's Day Double at VIR and it is quickly becoming a must-participate tradition.

Tickets are only $20 for the weekend and single-day tickets are available at a discount. For information, call 888-RACE099 or visit the VIR website at www.virclub.com
