Team Arizona debuts at California Speedway in Fontana, CA, March 7th, 8th and 9th.

Phoenix, Arizona - TEAM ARIZONA. Newly formed TEAM ARIZONA, an auto racing team including some of Arizona's best late model Stock Car drivers, has created the finest, fastest, and most competitive 'privateer' racing team to date. The mission is to provide both the drivers as well as the sponsors and spectators with a true racing show and experience - not just lapping a track at high speed. This is racing in its purest form. A significant part of the team's agenda is to foster the growth and awareness of Racing in Arizona, to provide driver education at all levels and to participate in highway safety public awareness programs throughout the state.

Team Arizona competes in the National Auto Sport Association (NASA) American Stock Car Challenge in Arizona, California and Nevada, and also in the Arizona Sports Racing Association "Arizona Cup Racing Series", a joint effort between the two organizations.

NASA describes the ASC Series as: "... a venue for late model stock cars similar to those used in NASCAR, Southwest Tour, ASA and other series to compete on some of the best road courses in America. The series was designed to bring the speed and passion of stock car racing to a level where drivers and teams without large budgets can afford to field competitive cars. ASC is a "spec" class which requires that competitors use the GM ZZ4 "crate motor", GoodYear D2403 10" slicks, sealed shocks, and other items to keep the field even in terms of car performance and costs. With the high performance of the cars, intense competition, and potential for sponsor support, it is clear why ASC has become one of the premier series in NASA road racing."

Team Arizona drivers are: 27: Manuel Gil Del Real 43: Ken Stinnett 55: Ed Ochylski 57: Nelson Garrison 90: Steve R. Carvajal 87: Guest Driver/Spare 66: Guest Driver/Spare 99: Guest Driver/Spare

Cars #87, #66 and #99 are usually raced by Guest or Celebrity drivers in addition to being race ready as 'spare' cars, thereby guaranteeing a full field at each event. Additional team members will be added by invitation only after the unanimous approval from all team members. All the cars are maintained to the highest standards and within the rules of the ASC class. Visually they are "NASCAR" style late models (Chevrolet Monte Carlo, Ford Taurus and Pontiac Grand Prix).

All the Team drivers are excited and enthused about representing the sport and the State at such a prominent level. Although still considered a 'grass roots' or 'amateur' sport, Team Arizona's presence creates a truly professional atmosphere seen only at the higher levels of motorsports. The activity allows both the drivers and the participants to experience all that racing has to offer.

We invite you to meet the Team at California Speedway in Fontana, CA in March during Round 2 of the ASC Series and at the new Arizona Motorsports Park on April 12 through the 13th when the ASC Series visits Arizona for Round 3 of their 10 Race Season.
