The youngest driver in the 2000 Valvoline Runoffs is 17-year-old Robert John Gelles, driving the #57 Defender PDI in the Formula 500 class. The oldest competitor is 77-year-old Les Gaylord, driving the #12 1999 Honda Civic VTEC in the Showroom Stock C class.

Les started racing in 1951 - Five years before Robert's dad was even born!

The Valvoline Runoffs®, October 2-8 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio, is the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) Club Racing National Championship event. Now in its 37th year and seventh at Mid-Ohio, the event often called the "Olympics of Motorsports" features over 600 of the nation's best amateur drivers. The Valvoline Runoffs® is the largest amateur road racing event in North America, and features some of the most competitive racing on the Mid-Ohio season schedule.
