SSC race was exciting stuff. A first lap fracas brought out a full course yellow when a couple of cars collided and couldn't continue. Near the end of race a car flipped 2 - 1/2 times, driver okay.

John Phillips III won, Paul Bonaccorsi 2nd, Kevin Adams 3rd. All three racers are on BFGoodrich tires.

At end of race, workers all said "line 'em up and send them back out; it was the best race of the weekend."

Press Room Interview -------------------- To Kevin Adams: What was your view of last lap mixup between Erich Heuschele and Gary Fratiana? I was watching that develop for 4 or 5 laps, they were going at it very hard. Those two were up there playing, I was biding my time. I was in the right place at the right time.

Paul Bonaccorsi: "That was good racing. The best damn race I've ever had or seen. Erich left an opening and my heart dropped and said to myself 'don't let Kevin by.'"

John Phillips: It was a battle from the beginning. All the cars are dead equal coudn't get away from anybody. I've been in _two_ demolition derbies today; I raced SSB this morning.

When told that the workers asked for another round of these guys, Paul said "give me fresh tires and I'll go back out." Phillips said "Give me a chance to fix my mirror and I'll be there too." Adams wanted to race again as well, "That's what Showroom Stock racing is like."

John: just getting faster, not older. My 40th birthday last Friday.

Next year's plans? Paul: probably same car, but we're looking for
something. Kevin: Honda.

Paul: I could see Kevin smoking his tires in my mirrors every corner; I worry if he gets more horsepower.

What's difference between Plymouth and a Dodge Neon? Paul: Plymouth has speakers in the rear.

Paul: 3rd time here, 3rde year racing. John 10years. Kevin 4 years at RO.

All on BFGs? Paul to prepare: I got a sponsor to pay for a crew guy, replaced everything on suspension it's all brand new. Just keeping car aligned every time.

Kevin: I took advantage of my home track being Mid-Ohio. Half of this track is technical, the other half is "go as fast as you can go." Honda is offical car of Mid-Ohio, so I'm glad to be driving one. The other guys have a disadvantage getting only 16 minutes of track time a day.

John: My racing is mainly flat tracking, very little of anything with elevation. I was fortunate that David Daugherty took me under his wing and got me into IMSA racing. Now I've raced lots of tracks with elevation changes, racing bumper to bumper for 3 or 4 hours at a time. Now I'm a lot more comfortable in close Showroom Stock action.

-----------------------

Formula Vee race in progress, full course yellow while David O'Dell driver extraction is in progress. He hit the wall in the esses. He's bruised his knee or something, and just wants some help getting out. Marc Danziger is out of race with a broken wheel and suspension, as is car 15.

Seriously incomplete notes; I'll try to get press notes uploaded shortly.
