SCCA REGIONAL RACING ON HPT ROAD COURSE THIS WEEKEND

TOPEKA, Kan. (March 30, 2006) - The Sports Car Club of America National Championship Runoffs ® are scheduled for October, but already the Heartland Park Topeka road course will be busy with SCCA road racing this weekend, April 1-2.

The Kaw Valley Race Group, a combination of the Kansas and Kansas City SCCA Regions, will host a combined Driver's School/Regional. This weekend's event is the first SCCA-sanctioned racing on the newly-repaved Heartland Park Topeka road course.

Gates open each day at 8 a.m. There is no admission charge for spectators.

Saturday's activity will feature driver's education groups and performance driving clinics on course. Sunday's schedule features regional qualifying in the morning and regional racing in the afternoon.

Drivers in Sunday's regional races are looking to earn points toward an SCCA Midwest Division championship.

For more information about this event, or to learn more about the Kaw Valley Race Group, visit the club's website at kvrg.org.

Heartland Park Topeka, a multi-purpose racing facility located in Topeka, Kan. annually hosts NHRA POWERade drag racing, the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA), and many other pro and amateur drag racing, road racing, and dirt racing events throughout the race season.
