3 July 2002, Washington DC: The Washington DC Region of the Sports Car Club of America announced today that ING DIRECT, the direct to consumer retail bank offering simple financial products over the telephone and Internet, would be the title sponsor of the ING DIRECT Orange Sprints on August 10 and 11. The ING DIRECT Orange Sprints marks the return of the 2002 MARRS Championship to Summit Point Raceway in Summit Point, West Virginia and is the seventh round of the ten-race 2002 MARRS Championship.

"This is a terrific opportunity for our members to learn about how simple it is to save your money with ING DIRECT, thanks to its great interest rates and no minimums and no fees," said Don Caldwell, DC Region Regional Executive. The weekend will see the Region's annual Open Competition Meeting and, according to Caldwell, expects to draw more than 250 cars.

"We are excited to be involved with the DC Region's grassroots motorsports efforts," said Christopher Williams, Vice President of Marketing Strategy, ING DIRECT. "We already sponsor Shawn Dewey's Spec Miata, and think that adding a race sponsorship will complement the car sponsorship. Whether you are interested in earning 3% APY on our Orange Savings Account or you need the Orange Home Equity Loan to help pay for racing purchases, ING DIRECT offers simple, convenient financial products for anyone looking for a great deal."

The ING DIRECT Orange Sprints is a spectator event that will take place regardless of weather. Tickets and information can be obtained by calling (304) 725-8444.
