Kumho Tires to Sponsor 2002 12 Hours at the Point

Kumho Tires, a leading manufacturer of tires for street and racing, will sponsor the 4th 12 Hours at the Point held at Summit Point Raceway. The May 31-June 1 event will be known as the Kumho Tires 12 Hours at the Point. The event, an endurance race for sedans and sports cars, is one of the premier amateur endurance events sanctioned by the Sports Car Club of America.

"Kumho has been a strong supporter of grassroots motorsports and the Washington DC Region is proud to have Kumho Tires as a sponsor," said Don Caldwell, Region Executive.

As part of their support of the Kumho Tires 12 Hours at the Point, Kumho Tires will also be setting up a special contingency program. "Kumho Tires already has a contingency program supporting grassroots club racers, but we felt that the magnitude of the Kumho Tires 12 Hours at the Point warranted a program above the standard program," said Rudy Consolacion, Motorsports Manager of Kumho Tires.

Each team winning its class and meeting eligibility requirements will win a $600 contingency prize from Kumho. Details of the contingency program can be found on the Kumho Tires 12 Hours at the Point website(www.12hoursatthepoint.org).
