April 8, 2002: Washington DC Region of the Sports Car Club of America announced today that fifty-five cars would be starting the 4th Annual Kumho Tires 12 Hours at the Point. The May 31-June 1 event, an endurance race for sports cars and sedans, is held at the challenging two-mile Summit Point Raceway in Summit Point, WV. The event draws competitors from as far as Texas.

Under SCCA competition rules, Summit Point is limited to fifty car fields, but the Region obtained a waiver that will allow the extra five cars to start. "The word is out that DC Region and our drivers can handle the large fields and, if we had the pit space to handle more cars we'd ask for a larger waiver," said one Region official. The Region expects to release the official entry list later this week.

The 4th Annual Kumho Tires 12 Hours at the Point is a spectator event. Tickets to the event can be obtained by calling Summit Point Raceway at (304) 725-8444.
