Aurora Films, Club Sport Racing and the Washington DC Region of the SCCA announced today that Aurora Films would be filming the 2002 Kumho Tires 12 Hours at the Point. This will be the first time that the annual endurance race for sports cars and sedans will be filmed. Fifty-five teams will be competing in the May 31-June 1 event held at Summit Point Raceway in Summit Point, WV.

"We're very excited about filming the race," said Brad Kenyon of Aurora Films. Kenyon added "the focus of our production will be on the trials and tribulations of a grassroots motorsports team in an endurance race." Aurora Films of Lancaster, Pennsylvania will use a combination of four video cameras and two 16mm film cameras to cover the Kumho Tires 12 Hours 12 Hours at the Point. Aurora Films can be reached at 717-393-7172

"Club Sport Racing is proud to be part of this historic undertaking," said Harry Kintzi, the owner of the Club Sport Racing team. Kintzi added, "the competition in our class, ITE, is going to be strong, but I think our chances are good." Club Sport Racing is based in the Lancaster region of Pennsylvania.

According to Gayle Lorenz, Road Racing Director of Competion for DC Region, "The Region has worked hard to put on a quality event for grassroots endurance racers and I think this shows that we've succeeded in making the Kumho Tires 12 Hours at the Point a premier endurance event." According to Lorenz, DC Region has a long history of holding major endurance events including the FIA-listed 12 Hours of Marlboro held in the 1950s.

Gates open for the event on May 31. The green flag flies at noon on June 1. The event, like all SCCA events held at Summit Point, is open to spectators. For more information, go to www.12hoursatthepoint.org.
