May 5, 2003: Bilstein Shocks (www.bilstein.com), Autoy, Inc. of Rockville and the Washington DC Region of the SCCA announced today that Bilstein, a unique and driving force in the automotive suspension industry for over 40 years, has joined the contingency program for the 5th Annual Kumho Tires 12 Hours at the Point. The event, the longest North American perennially held amateur endurance race for sports cars and sedans, will be held May 30-31, 2003 on challenging Summit Point Raceway. The Region expects that it will start the maximum number of cars allowed under SCCA rules.

Bilstein, the first to apply the patented gas pressure principle to controlling ride characteristics on automobiles and introducer of the first monotube gas pressure shock absorber, is awarding $50 towards the purchase of most Bilstein shocks to all eligible class winners. The award will be administered and redeemed through Autoy, Inc. of Rockville.

"Bilstein and Autoy, Inc are happy to make this prize available to the competitors in the premier SCCA endurance race," said Dave Toy, President of Autoy, Inc. Bilstein has a long history of superior performance in diverse events ranging from SCCA, NASCAR, the Baja 1000, Formula 1 and off-road Rally. Toy added, "An endurance race pushes the technological limits of a racing suspension and the 12 Hours at the Point is an excellent way to show that Bilstein has met this challenge."

"The Region is thankful for the support of Bilstein and Autoy, Inc.," said Jeff Janoska, 12 Hour Contingency Chair. Janoska added, "Bilstein and Autoy, Inc. are not only making this prize available, but have extended a discount to all Kumho Tires 12 Hours at the Point competitors."

Specific details of Bilstein's contingency prize may be found on the Kumho Tires 12 Hours at the Point website (www.12hoursatthepoint.org). The race, like all SCCA races at Summit Point, will take place rain or shine. Spectator information also is available at the Kumho Tires 12 Hours at the Point website.
