"Maine Man Reynolds scoops Dynamic Group N success".
Team Dynamics Pro Rally USA are celebrating after winning Group N and finishing 6th overall on the Maine Forestry Rally in the SCCA Pro Rally Championship in America, a dream competitive debut result for driver Julian Reynolds from Narberth in Wales.
The talented Welshman withdrew immediately from the recent Oregon Trail Rally after the tragic accident that befell the works Subaru of Mark Lovell and Roger Freeman. Reynolds and co-driver Duncan McMath from Surrey in England were keen to return to the growing USA rally scene and they took the start in their Prodrive rented Subaru Impreza WRX, supported by Pirelli, Team Dynamics, NGK and Ferodo.
After a steady start, the former UK National rally winner picked up the pace in the Group N category, and was leading series front runner Shane Mitchell by around 30 seconds before the American retired from the rally with suspension failure after the fifth stage. From there, Reynolds settled into a comfortable pace as he enjoyed his first experience of the American gravel roads.
The fast sweeping bends were well suited to a committed driver like Reynolds, and he continued to build an impressive lead in the Pirelli shod Subaru. With a high quality field of drivers ahead, Reynolds was happy to tag on to the end of the top five as thoroughly enjoyed his first competitive outing in the SCCA Pro Rally Championship. A puncture on the final stage was the only minor problem as Reynolds swept through to claim an impressive 6th overall and a very clear Group N win on competitive debut:
"To come here and win Group N is a great thrill for me personally" commented the delighted Welshman. "Everything just clicked into place this weekend. It was my first time in a new Group N Subaru, and I was very impressed by its performance. Its certainly a very competitive package indeed, and the Pirelli tyres work extremely well with the car. It gave me a lot of confidence with the car I must say."
"As for the rally and the championship, I thought it was great. The quality of drivers and competition was excellent, and you really have to push to set the top times in this championship. I was made very welcome once again, and I can't really stress enough how much I enjoyed the rally, the car, and enjoyed the support of Team Dynamics Inc on our way to a great result. It was a shame that Shane Mitchell retired early on as I think we could have had a good battle by the end. Hopefully I will be able to return to the USA again soon for another taste of the action!"
As Reynolds and McMath were driving to success in Maine, the UK arm of the Team Dynamics rallying effort were enjoying a successful weekend in the British Rally Championship. Jonny Milner/Nicky Beech took a near 5 minute victory on the Manx International Rally in their Toyota Corolla WRC - giving Team Dynamics their first ever International Rally victory with their new range of professional motorsport wheels. Milner led the all tarmac affair from start to finish, making it a fantastic weekend for the alloy wheel manufacturer on both sides of the Atlantic.
