It's time for the 18th Annual Pacific Coast Road Race Championships at Sears Point Raceway in Sonoma, California. This year it is known as the INTERNATIONAL EZ-UP Pacific Coast Road Racing Championships Presented By Precision Power, Audiovox, and Roger Krause Racing Enterprises, Inc. Again this weekend will be a charity benefit for The Leukemia Society of America, Northern California Chapter. SFR has already raised more than $100,000 for LSA and the goal this year is $30,000 from this event.

It is a three-day event with ten racing groups comprised of the best of the best SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) regional racers from the four Western Divisions. Also running will be the American City Racing League (ACRL.)

These more than 300 Western drivers are here by invitation based on their points standings this year in SCCA Regional Racing. There will be three full days of SCCA-sanctioned racing this weekend, starting with practice on Friday morning, followed by qualifying in the afternoon. Saturday is more qualifying and the first few races, with the remainder of the 11 races on Sunday.

Interspersed in all the racing are all the activities designed to benefit the Leukemia Society. On Saturday and Sunday will again be the track RideAround in the two-seater race cars driven by the actual drivers. Helmets are provided.

Saturday and Sunday pancakes will be served for breakfast from 6:30-10 am. The $3 price from previous years remains unchanged.

Also on Saturday and Sunday will be opportunities to wave the Checkered Flag on one of the SCCA races and keeping the Checkered Flag as a souvenir, and to ride in the Pace Car for one of the races at the start of the race. And again the Leukemia Society will have a bigger and better Silent Auction, all three days.

Among the unique and memorable Auction items available this year are:

~Rear wing (autographed by F1 Drivers Martin Brundle & Olivier Panis) from Ligier F1 car, complete with Certificate of Authenticity ~Geoff Brabham's GTP Driving Suit ~Two-Day Bondurant Driving School complete with two round tickets SFO-PDX ~One Day Dodge/Skip Barber Driving School ~One set Goodyear Bias Ply Tires ~Autographed SFR Checkered Flag signed by IndyCar Drivers at Laguna 1995 ~Autographed SFR Checkered Flag signed by NASCAR SuperTruck Drivers at Richmond International Raceway ~Dahon Folding Bicycle ~Randy Owens artwork ~Anne Peyton artwork ~One night luxury accommodations for two at the Sonoma Mission Inn ~Two tickets to 1996 Sears Point NASCAR Race

The way the Silent Auction works is that one submits a coded-bid and at the designated time on Sunday the highest bidder gets the item.

The Leukemia Society has a booth right across from Race Central in the middle of the Sears Point paddock, where all tickets are sold, where the Silent Auction items are on display and where information can be obtained on The Leukemia Society.

Tickets are $10 on Friday and Saturday and $15 on Sunday.
