Wayne, NJ; (February 7, 2003) - Hankook Tire America today announced its selection as the supplier of the spec tire for the Sports Car Club of America's Mazda Miata North American Cup Series.

This Series, sanctioned by SCCA Pro Racing Ltd., features identically prepared Mazda Miatas, outfitted with Hankook newest R-compound racing tire, the Ventus Z211.

Hankook will provide its new Ventus Z211 tires to all of the competitors in the Series' races. This program is Hankook's initial venture into US road racing, although they have been involved in motorsports in Asia, Australia, Canada and Europe for years.

The Series calls for an East and West Coast Championship with a final event pitting the competitors from both championships against each other. Both Championships will feature 10 races of 30 minutes in duration.

"This is a tremendous opportunity for us to showcase our Ventus line of Ultra High Performance tires, and for Hankook to increase its brand awareness," explains Mr. J. W. Choi, President of Hankook Tire America. "Partnering with the SCCA in the Mazda Miata Series gives us the perfect venue in which to prove the superior quality of the Ventus UHP line, and to do so where it counts - on the high-intensity track and with demanding ultra-high-performance drivers." Mr Choi adds: "This is just the beginning of great accomplishments on the racing circuit with Ventus UHP, and with the Hankook brand as a whole."

Hankook currently provides tires for several European competitions, including the Italian Formula 3 Championship, the Toyota Hankook Cup Rally Series in Greece, and the Ford Focus Rally Series in Benelux,

Tire availability and dealer information will be available shortly.
