HALLETT, Okla. (June 26, 2000) - The all-time leader in Pro Spec Racer poles, Warren Stilwell, of Hartville, Ohio captured the pole for Sunday's Round Six Pro Spec Racer race at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit. Denny Stripling, McKinney, Texas and Bobby Sak, of West Bloomfields, Mich. rounded out the top-three. In the second qualifying session, run under cooler conditions, all the drivers posted quicker times. Driving the No. 28 Stilwell Racing Spec Racer, Stilwell retained the pole from Saturday first qualifying session, after lowering his lap time to 1:28.313 (73.375 mph), a new lap record. Stilwell's pole is the third this season and 26th of his career. "The cooler track conditions definitely made it quicker," said Stilwell. "This track lends itself to really throwing the car around. With the limited passing areas, it will come down to not making mistakes in the race." Stripling, in the No. 4 Vortex Motorsports Spec Racer, from nearby Texas used is knowledge of the track to grab the outside front row position with a lap of 1:28.399 (73.303 mph). "I made wholesale changes in the car last night and it really paid off," said Stripling. "To be honest I'd be glad switch spots with Bobby (Sak). I' ve run a lot of races and starting on the inside row is a definitive advantage. I know getting past Warren (Stilwell) will be hard, but I'll be trying." Driving the No. 19 Don Sak Racing Spec Racer, Sak ran times similar to what he ran on Friday during testing to secure third spot on the grid with a lap of 1:28.830 (72.948). "Being here earlier in the year definitely helped," said Stripling. "I'm hoping the conditions stay the same, as my car setup is pretty good. The key to the race will be to run as quick as you can without making too many mistakes." Rounding out the top-five is Round Five race winner Keith Scharf, of St. Louis, Mo. and Carl Harris, of Houston, Texas.
