SCCA Pro Racing North American Championships open Atlantic Tour at BeaveRun Motorsports complex.

TOPEKA, Kan. (May 1, 2003) -- Professional road racing returns to Western Pennsylvania this weekend when the SCCA North American Championships make their Atlantic Tour debut at BeaveRun Motorsports Complex, in Wampum, Pa.

The racing schedule includes doubleheader events on the 1.6 mile road course for the Mazdaspeed Miata Cup Presented by Hankook Tires, the Sports Racing Pro Series, Pro Spec Racer and Formula SCCA.

The weekend will also feature the Snapon.com Champ Car Stars of Tomorrow karting series, on BeaveRun's world-class 0.8-mile Wilson Circuit, as well as a three-day Miata Festival and Driving School sponsored by Baglier Mazda.

The SCCA North American Championships were designed with a Pacific and Atlantic Tour format in an attempt to allow competitors to participate in an entry-level professional racing series. Competitors from the Pacific Tour kicked off their season last month at Phoenix International Raceway. The split format eliminates cross-country trips, reducing the costs for participants.
