St. Clair, Mich. -- Tommy Archer, driving the number 36 Control Concepts Dodge Viper, is ready to move-up in the point standings with a top finish at the final race of the SCCA Pro Racing Trans-Am Series for the BF Goodrich Cup to be held through the streets of Houston, Texas on October 6.
The 1.527-mile temporary street course should prove to be one of the more difficult events of the season. The track is made up of a series of 11-turns, nine of which are right angels, making passing difficult. "From what I understand the track is bumpy, but I've always liked street courses. The last four events we have qualified well and that is important on these type tracks. I am ready to get back in the car again, I feel a lot better from my rib injury earlier in the season."
The Duluth, Minnesota resident currently sits in fourth place in the Trans-Am driver's standings with 196. "We have an outside chance for a season ending third place, but we just can't lose any ground," continued Archer.
"We have had some hard luck on the street courses this year. At Long Beach we had an engine miss and at Detroit we had the axle problem. Tommy drives these tracks hard, we just need some good luck to close out the season in the top three in points," said Joe Tranchida, owner Cinjo, Racing.
