ELKHART LAKE, Wis. (July 9, 2000) - Dublin (Ohio) resident, Clint Field, 17-year old son of InterSport Racing's owner/driver, Jon Field, drove in his second professional race, the American City Racing League's Eastern Division event at Road America, a support race for the Sargento Road America 500 Grand American Road Racing Series feature race.

Field drove the Banana Joe's Island Party-sponsored Team Philadelphia car to a credible seventh after having started 11th. Because of severe stormy weather on Saturday, the qualifying session was canceled and starting positions were determined by Friday's second practice session times. Field's best time was 2:24.362 (99.749 mph) around the four-mile Road America circuit.

This was Field's first time in the car, a Pratt & Miller RM2 running in the S-2 class. The ACRL series, uses a unique team racing concept, racing Ford-engined Sports 2000 and Classic Sports 2000, as well as Toyota-powered Sports 1600 cars. Teams are required to run Hoosier ACRL-stamped R-45 compound tires and a spec fuel.

"It was lots of fun and a great learning experience," said Field. "I hope to run the remainder of the season in the same car to get some quality seat time." His professional debut was at Mid-Ohio in the Motorola Cup early in June, just weeks before his 17th birthday. He was in a non-competitive Chevrolet Camaro, but his demeanor and maturity brought positive comments from those who watched him drive.

Field's next ACRL race is scheduled for Mid-Ohio during the CART weekend on August 11-12.
