New Race Festival

After the successful practice sessions Friday and Saturday, the day of judgement had come. The performance of the Cooper S3 during the practice session was a small miracle. Now the little car had to prove its worth in a true endurance event.

The race was not without its problems for Team Qvick. During the first hour, Erik Qvick drove into the pit lane with a broken gear stick. All the hard labour of the past months was at stake, but luckily, the team is no stranger to technical creativity. They drilled a hole, and replaced the gear stick with a tool. However, this was not the end of their problems. With Vincent Beernaerd behind the wheel, the servo took a brake. For six laps, in a blistering heat, Vinnie had to drive without power steering. Luckily, the problem disappeared as sudden as it had started, and the rest of the race proceeded smoothly.

Team Qvick finished fifth in the TB class, within points. They would have been happy with a finish, so they are over the moon. Although the set up is not perfect yet, the times are very competitive. After this first race, it is clear that the Cooper S3 posses great potential. The project has a bright future.
